We wanted to drive on Blue Ridge Parkway because it was meant to be really good, Top Gear drove there and they didn't seem to like it, they complained about the speed limits being mostly 35mph, that is not the case, there are a few short stretches that are 35mph but it makes sense that the speedlimit is lower in those areas
Skyline drive was nicer, it took us two and a half day to complete Blue Ridge Parkway, if you have to choose, pick Skyline drive, it's much nicer, and it also happens to be shorter.
