they had recently renovated, and hadn't removed any of the transportation protection for the fire safety stuff. you can see it in this image, and it was like this in both rooms, and the halls, so I'm guessing whoever installed them didn't know to remove them or assumed the hotel would do it themselves, which they didn't.
